There is hope in the storm
I acknowledged that unexpected circumstances
mean that life will never be the same as it once was
Instead of running away or withdrawing
to a prison of my own making
I will choose to embrace the new
opportunities and unexpected joys.
I will contiune to survive
continue to perserve
continue to be vulnerable
continue to forgive
continue to trust
continue to hold those I love with open hands
continue to be thankful
continue to choose purposeful actions.
Sympathy cards and razor wire
when despair tries to take me under

the battle of the mind and heart
When i wonder what God could possibly be thinking

a prolonged journey
When i desperately wanted relief from unrelenting reality

holding on to hope
